The solid oak desk top is a variation of the solid oak table top, with the main difference being that this has a larger roundover radius on the front and sides (the back wall-facing edge is square). This rounder edge provides additional comfort for wrists over long periods of time.
The other difference is the option to add a cable notch at the back centre which creates a gap 3cm square for wires to pass through, allowing the desk top to be pushed up to the wall neatly.
There are multiple uses for a solid oak desk top, and the most popular that we have encountered are:
- replacing the surface of an existing desk that is worn away, damaged or otherwise unsuitable
- as an upgrade to replace the original MDF/chipboard top on a new sit-stand desk
- where the customer has a base or set of legs, as part of a DIY/upcycling project
- as part of the fit out of offices, shops or other trade premises
- when a specific size is required for a working from home desk
